Lenni Lenape

There is a thriving culture of Lenni Lenape Native Americans living in and around the township of Pilesgrove. Each year in June they have their annual Pow-Wow at the Salem County Fairgrounds. The 2009 celebration was the 26th anniversary of this log-awaited event.

People come from Penns Grove, Pennsville, and from all over Salem County to attend this event. Others have been known to make the trek from as far as Teramo in Abruzzo Italy just to witness this authentic celebration of the American Native American culture.
